Are Ashley Cole and Gael Clichy injured again?

WE UNDERSTOOD that the Reading game was behind closed doors and would test out the fitness of injured players, perhaps including Ashley Cole and Gael Clichy.

At 3.43 pm on Thursday I heard that Cole broke down in the warm-up and Clichy had a broken foot again and is out for the season.

Neither Cole not Clichy played in that training game, which Arsenal won 3-1.

Thought that news might come out this morning. But I've not seen it confirmed or denied.

LAST NIGHT I watched chat show host David Letterman for the first time in two years.

He had a running gag about US vice president Dick Cheney, who shot his 74-year old attorney friend Harry Whittingham in the face on a quail-hunting trip in Texas.

Dave said, " My motto has always been, if you shoot an attorney, you should kill him. And the strangest thing is, the quail have disappeared. They've all disappeared. They're believed to be hiding in a mountainous region near Pakistan."
